The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has ordered limits on some types of evictions through the end of June. But legal protections and financial resources can be difficult for tenants to navigate. Several Arizona organizations are trying to make the process easier.

The Arizona Bar Foundation, along with other local organizations and agencies, has built a website called AZ Eviction Help. It offers basic legal information in English or Spanish for tenants facing eviction and it connects users with local financial programs that can help cover rent or utilities.

“It’s nice because it can be a vital resource for an individual or a family who’s struggling with their rental situation. It not only captures the rental assistance element, the utility assistance, but also there’s other elements,” said Bonnie Temme, community relations program manager with SRP.

Utility provider SRP is among the groups backing the website. Temme said the pandemic has economically impacted many customers.

“This is a new experience for a number of households, so this gives one landing point for people to go to and gather that information," she said.

She said millions of dollars in aid are still available in Arizona.
