Former Arizona Attorney General Grant Woods labeled the state Senate’s Maricopa County election audit as a "sham" to a national television audience.

The longtime Republican and anti-Trumper was a guest Saturday on MSNBC. Woods said there’s always been people on the fringe in both the Democratic and Republican parties.

"Now they’re in charge," he said. "Now they’re there front and center. I mean this has been sponsored primarily by the president of the Arizona Senate."

Woods later told cable-news viewers the audit is happening in a place where he has gone on probably unsafe rides and played rigged carnival games.

He then dryly added that state lawmakers fit in well at the fairgrounds.
