Wildfire season is in full swing across the state.

Nearly 400,000 acres have already burned in Arizona so far this year, and five of the state’s national forests are completely closed to prevent more fires from igniting.

As we watch the land burn and report on firefighters' efforts to quell the flames, The Show is taking a few minutes to talk about how it all works.

The Show asked those questions and more to Steve Shaw, a fire operations specialist with the Bureau of Land Management.
