Some Arizona pharmacy locations started vaccinations for 12- to 15-year-olds on May 12, 2021.

The Phoenix Union High School District, the Arizona Department of Education and the Maricopa County Department of Public Health are hosting COVID-19 vaccination events this month for individuals 12 or older at 15 school sites.

This is the second summer vaccination effort that the district is spearheading in preparation for the upcoming school year.

“We want to make the vaccine as widely accessible as possible. If you look at the COVID data, the community spread data, our community has been one of the hardest hit and our community still continues to be in the red as far as the spread of COVID," said district spokesman Richard Franco.

The district has also partnered with Lyft to provide transportation to and from the events. Interested individuals can receive a voucher by calling 602-764-1500.

School-aged children who attend the events will receive a free backpack and school supplies while inventory lasts. The district plans to host another round of vaccination events on July 30 and 31 where they will offer other health services such as mammograms, blood pressure screenings and sports physicals.

On Friday, COVID-19 vaccines will be offered from noon to 5 p.m. at:

• Garfield Elementary School - 811 N. 13th St., Phoenix, AZ 85006.
• Herrera School for the Arts and Dual Language - 1350 S. 11th St., Phoenix, AZ 85034.
• Kings Ridge Preparatory Academy - 3650 S. 64th Lane, Phoenix, AZ 85043.
• Magnet Traditional School - 2602 N. 23rd Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85009.
• Wilson College Prep - 3005 E. Fillmore St., Phoenix, AZ 85008.

The vaccines will also be offered on Friday from noon to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at:

• Academies at South Mountain - 5401 S. Seventh St., Phoenix, AZ 85040.
• Alhambra High School - 3839 W. Camelback Road, Phoenix, AZ 85019.
• Bernard Black Elementary School - 6550 S. 27th Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85041.
• Betty H. Fairfax High School - 8225 S. 59th Ave., Laveen, AZ 85339.
• Camelback High School - 4612 N. 28th St., Phoenix, AZ 85016.
• Carl Hayden Community High School - 3333 W. Roosevelt St., Phoenix, AZ 85009.
• Maryvale High School - 3415 N. 59th Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85033.
• North High School - 1101 E. Thomas Road, Phoenix, AZ 85014.
