One of two passengers who went missing while rafting in the Grand Canyon when a flash flood hit was found dead Thursday. The other was found alive.

A Grand Canyon spokesperson said 30 rafters were on a commercial trip on the Colorado River, when a flash flood washed away a camp they had set up for the night.

The camp was set up near the Arizona-Utah state line, and the National Weather Service radar showed an inch of rain along that stretch of the river.

It is unknown whether the trip’s guides were aware of the flash flood warnings that were issued for the area Wednesday.

Seven injured passengers were airlifted out of the canyon Wednesday, and more are said to have sustained injuries. The rafter found alive was located at an abandoned campsite.
