Boys & Girls Club Branch In Phoenix Temporarily Closes Due To COVID-19 Outbreak
A north Phoenix branch of the Boys & Girls Clubs has closed its doors for the rest of July after seeing a drastic increase in positive COVID-19 cases.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale is reporting more than 30 positive cases among staff and club members as of Friday morning, and that number is expected to continue growing as more families test their children for the virus.
A club spokesperson says masks are required for employees who haven’t been fully vaccinated, as well as all children at the branch near 40th Street and Pinnacle Peak Road.
The club was sanitized by an independent cleaning service this week, and all branch employees are undergoing required COVID-19 testing.
The branch is working with the Maricopa County Department of Public Health to ensure a safe reopening sometime in August.
