After a 17-month hiatus due to the coronavirus, British Airways will resume service from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

Flights from Phoenix to London Heathrow Airport will be offered three times a week. Before the pandemic, British Airways offered daily flights. This is the 25th year British Airways has offered service from Phoenix.

The flight will be operated by a Boeing 777-200 with 272 seats and three classes of service: business, premium economy and economy.

“This flight will contribute to the growth of our economy while providing travelers with a nonstop connection to Europe,” Mayor Kate Gallego said in a statement. “We are proud of the world class service we are able to provide Phoenicians and visitors from around the world.”

American Airlines has not announced when it will resume flights to London. Condor Airlines flights to Frankfurt, Germany remain suspended.

Some Air Canada and WestJet flights from Phoenix to Canada resumed in June with more planned next month. Canada and the United Kingdom are open to vaccinated Americans.
