As COVID-19 cases continue to surge in Arizona, Pima County’s chief medical officer, Dr. Francisco García, says the cooling weather may help mitigate transmission.

But he also says to expect more variants to pop up, and there is a new one called mu.

"There is some concern that one of the newly identified variants, the mu variant, may have a way of escaping our normal immune response," García said.

He also says it’s very important for schools to have students and staff wear masks in order to protect the children who are not eligible to be vaccinated.
