The Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission is currently holding public meetings to hear from Arizonans about the draft grid maps that the commissioners will begin to adjust next week. The maps will set the lines for Arizona’s 30 legislative districts and nine congressional districts for the next decade in Arizona politics.

The current grid maps the commission approved this month are purely based on population and will not look like whatever the final maps will become once the lengthy process is complete.

The commission conducted its weekly meeting Sept. 28, but did not make any major decisions as the map drawing task is still in its infancy.

Erika Neuberg is the chair of the Independent Redistricting Commission.

The Show spoke with her to learn how the mapping process has been going.
