An Arizona Diamondbacks season plagued with difficulties came to an end on Sunday, as the team misses the playoffs for the fourth straight year.

In 2021, the team had its second-worst win-loss record in 24 seasons.

The Diamondbacks end the season with 52 wins and 110 losses, tied with the Baltimore Orioles for the worst in Major League Baseball this season.

Arizona finished the first month of play with a 14-12 record, but a streak of 13 straight losses in May sent the team to the bottom of the National League West, where it stayed for the rest of the season.

The team also lost 17 straight games in June, and set a record for most consecutive road game losses with 23.

Because the Diamondbacks tied with the Orioles for the worst record in the league, the franchise will select second overall in the 2022 MLB Draft next summer.
