Both the Arizona Coyotes and the University of Arizona football team snapped double digit losing streaks on Saturday, bringing both teams the first win of their respective seasons, and UA’s first win since 2019.

The Wildcats had gone 763 days without winning a football game, the equivalent of 20 games over three seasons.

UA bested the University of California Golden Bears 10-3, after 24 Cal’s players and coaches — including seven starters — entered COVID-19 protocols before the game and were unable to play.

The Coyotes had tied the franchise record for its worst start to a season, going 11 straight games without a win.

The team defeated the Seattle Kraken, a newly formed NHL franchise which had played only 11 total games going into Saturday’s matchup, 5-4.
