The CDC recently expanded eligibility for COVID-19 booster shots to allow anybody who feels at risk of community exposure, or has family members at risk, to get the shot.

Former Arizona Department of Health Services Director Will Humble says the CDC’s loosening of the guidelines allows for immunized people to make their own decision on when to get the booster.

“The original criteria were pretty strict, and then in the end, the CDC left it really up to the judgement of individual people about their exposure risk, and their risk to themselves with respect to their health,” said Humble.

Humble says there are more than enough vaccines available for anyone who wants or needs the shot, and the booster will help make upcoming holiday family gatherings safer.
