Arizona reports 14,000 new coronavirus cases in the past 4 days
Download mp3 (5.42 MB)Arizona is in the midst of another COVID-19 spike. State health officials have reported more than 14,000 new coronavirus cases in just the past four days alone.
As of Nov. 15, 2,774 new infections were added to the state dashboard, and as is typical for a Monday, no additional deaths. The state, however, is approaching 22,000 fatalities since the pandemic began.
Suspected hospital cases have been dropping in recent days, but ICUs remain filled at 92% overall.
According to the Mayo Clinic, 54% of Arizonans are fully vaccinated, compared with 59% nationwide. That’s as kids ages 5-11 are now able to get vaccinated, and more adults can now get their boosters.
To talk about all this, The Show spoke with Dr. Saskia Popescu, who is an epidemiologist for the University of Arizona and George Mason University.
