A Bullhead City man has been convicted of threatening to kill Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. The man made phone calls to Speaker Pelosi’s office earlier this year.

Seventy-seven-year-old Arthur Martis was found guilty Thursday on one count of communicating an interstate threat to kill or harm the speaker.

According to a statement from the U.S.  Attorney’s Office, Martis called Pelosi’s office in Washington, D.C., and left two voicemails on Jan. 17 of this year, less than two weeks after the Jan. 6 siege at the U.S. Capitol. In one call, he said he was going to kill the speaker and made a similar threat in a second call.

According to the statement, the FBI had warned him about making similar calls in the past.

Martis is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 25, 2022.
