Northern Arizona’s Coconino County now has more COVID-19 cases than it did a year ago, Flagstaff’s mayor warned Tuesday.

Mayor Paul Deasy warned that Flagstaff Medical Center had no critical care beds available as of Tuesday morning. And county officials say the cases are now well above 300 and nearing 400 per hundred thousand people. That moved the county into high levels several weeks ago where it stayed since.

Kim Musselman is director of the county’s health and human services.

"Given the delta variant, the need for others to still get vaccinated and with the recent release of adolescent vaccines, there’s still a lot of folks out there who are not vaccinated or who have some waning resistance and are due for booster doses," she said.

Heading into the holiday weekend, Musselman warned people not to host events if they’re not feeling well.
