The Phoenix Symphony was challenged — like all other nonprofit arts organizations — by the height of the pandemic and the inability to do in-person performances.

And the symphony, even with loyal supporters and focused leadership, had for years struggled with financial shortcomings. So the impact of COVID-19 may have felt even more daunting for the group.

But the Phoenix Symphony recently welcomed audiences back to Symphony Hall and is presenting “Music of the Knights” Nov. 26-28, featuring the sounds of Paul McCartney, Elton John and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

The Show spoke with Phoenix Symphony’s music director, Tito Muñoz, to learn about the effects of the pandemic on the group.
