Gov. Alfonso Durazo recently said that where the train lines currently run, along with a massive Ferromex workshop, will be converted into an urban corridor, with multi-purpose public spaces that he imagines being used by vendors and others.

“It will remain completely available for the service of the city,” he said of the land and right of ways that would be freed up if the effort is successful..

As to the likely substantial cost of moving the train line elsewhere, Durazo said that Ferromex, part of Grupo Mexico, will bear those expenses. He chalked that up to what he described as a good relationship and efforts to build agreements with the massive conglomerate.
