Nostalgia and our desire to think about the past typically grows stronger over the holidays, and the effects of the pandemic have illustrated that even more sharply.

Winter and Christmas-themed TV shows, movies and plays are thriving to a greater than usual extent right now as Charlie Brown, Frosty the Snowman, and the stop-motion animation featuring Santa Claus are grabbing many of our heads and hearts.

Childsplay Theatre has presented performances in the Valley for nearly 45 years, and its latest production, going on for a few more days at the Herberger Theater Center in Phoenix, is full of nostalgia itself: “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”

The Show spoke with director Dwayne Hartford and one of the stars, Jon Gentry, who plays Sam the narrator, to learn about the show.
