Arizona gas prices are dropping

As the COVID-19 variant omicron creates economic hesitation, it too is beginning to affect gas prices.

AAA Arizona spokesperson Aldo Vazquez says gas prices are beginning to drop as its supply exceeds demand. But, he says, the price reduction is being subdued because of continued fluctuations in crude oil prices.

And he says prices are still averaging higher, when comparing year over year.

“Here in Arizona the average for a gallon of gasoline is sitting at about $3.64. That’s down three cents from a week ago, down 13 cents from a month ago, but it is up $1.43 from a year ago where averages were about $2.21," Vazquez said.

The national average is sitting at $3.28 a gallon, recently down in price, but also up over $1 from a year ago.
