The news outlet Politico has reported that since the Jan. 6 insurrection, U.S. Capitol police are looking at the backgrounds of people who meet with lawmakers.

Republican members of Arizona’s congressional delegation want an investigation of the practice.

Rep. Andy Biggs and fellow GOP Congresswoman Debbie Lesko are among more than 30 signatures on a letter to the House Speaker and the chair of the committee which oversees chamber security.

The letter calls Capitol police surveillance of online activity by staffers and people who meet with lawmakers violations of civil rights and civil liberties, and the four-page document says the Democrat-controlled House Administration committee should investigate.

Biggs has been accused of and has denied connection to the deadly Jan. 6 riot by a pro-Trump mob.
