Another journalist has been killed in Mexico. This time in southern Sonora.

Jorge Luis Camero was shot down while at a gym in Empalme on Thursday. Camero was a personal assistant to the city’s mayor and also worked as an opinion writer for a local news outlet.

He is the seventh journalist killed in Mexico this year.

In response to the onslaught of murders, the Mexican government has promised to end impunity in killings of reporters. And on Friday, officials arrested five people in connection with the January killing of Tijuana photojournalist Margarito Martinez according to Luis Cresencio Sandoval González, head of Mexico’s defense agency.

During a press conference Friday, he said authorities captured the suspects earlier that morning and also seized drugs and weapons trafficked from the United States.
