A Ukrainian born resident of Kingman said she is checking in on loved ones and friends in Ukraine as Russian forces continue their offensive responsible for killing innocent civilians in the country.

Lareesa Karma-Zina has family members on both ideological sides of the war. She said her 92-year-old father — whom she refers to as “that person” — lives in Russia and supports Vladimir Putin.  

Karma-Zina said, “I don’t want to talk to that person whatsoever in my life because there is not language made on Earth so I can talk to him and get through.”

She checks in on the well-being of her other family members every day and said that the conflict makes no sense, pleading with people to, “look at today’s absolutely beautiful blue sky and understand we should stop fighting for political bulls---”
