Russia's war has led to millions of Ukrainians fleeing. Some have ended up at the U.S.-Mexico border

According to the UN Refugee Agency, more than 3.5 million refugees have fled Ukraine since Russia launched its invasion late last month.

Most of them have ended up in Poland or other neighboring countries. But some have come to the U.S. through our border with Mexico. At the same time, some Russians, generally those who oppose the war or their country’s government, have also been trying to get into the U.S, but seemingly with less success.

Daina Beth Solomon is a reporter at Reuters, based in Mexico City, and recently spent a few days in the border community of Tijuana to find out what’s been going on.

The Show spoke with her to learn what the situation was like there in terms of Ukrainian and Russian nationals trying to get into the U.S.
