Democrats, Republicans spending big to win Latino voters in the Southwest

Latino voters have traditionally been a reliable bloc for Democratic candidates, but that’s started to change. And the parties are paying extra attention to that in Arizona and Nevada: two battleground states with U.S. Senate races coming up in November, where the Democratic incumbents likely need Latino voters in order to stay in office.

Democrats have already spent more than a million dollars on Spanish-language ads in these two states, trying to appeal to those voters, while Republicans are looking to add onto the gains they’ve made.

Sabrina Rodríguez has written about this; she’s a national political correspondent for Politico.

The Show spoke with her to learn the significance of the amount being spent on Spanish-language ads in Arizona and Nevada.
