About a dozen state and federal officials have been cited for violating Mexico’s campaign rules in the lead up to a national referendum on the country’s president.

Sonoran Gov. Alfonso Durazo and Interior Secretary Adan Lopez are among a group of politicians who violated the constitution and broke campaign rules, according to Mexico’s Electoral Institute.

The officials participated in several rallies, including one in the Sonoran capital Hermosillo, encouraging voter turnout for an April 10 referendum on the president.

The Electoral Institute issued an official bulletin citing 11 members of the president’s Morena party for wrongdoing. It ordered them to adjust their behavior to comply with the law — including refraining from participating in further events and removing social media posts related to the referendum.
