Arizona’s Republican Attorney General Mark Brnovich, who is also in the middle of a political campaign for the U.S. Senate, has made seemingly misleading claims about the Maricopa County’s 2020 election process.

On former Trump adviser Steve Bannon’s podcast, Brnovich talked about his interim report on the election and also claimed that the county used artificial intelligence systems to verify ballot signatures.

"We got another letter from their lawyer, for the first time, and this is not in the report, admitted that they're using AI to verify signatures," Brnovich said.

But Maricopa County Recorder and Elections Department spokesperson Megan Gilbertson disputes that.

"We definitely use technology to assist us. We have all staff do it on a computer. But it's 100% verified by humans," Gilbertson said.

Capitol Media Services obtained the letter Brnovich says proves his claim but says the letter actually appears to undermine the argument.
