Giannis Antetokounmpo Suns Road Game Rally
Alberto Mariani/Cronkite News
Phoenix fans watch Game 3 of the 2021 NBA Finals on the big screen and catch Milwaukee Bucks player Giannis Antetokounmpo celebrating after a big play.

The Phoenix Suns ended the regular season with the NBA’s best record — and the most wins in team history with 64. That, along with an appearance in last season’s NBA Finals against the Milwaukee Bucks, has made the Suns the prohibitive favorite to emerge with the organization’s first-ever NBA championship.

But to do that, the Suns will ultimately have to beat four other teams and win 16 postseason games — a huge challenge in any season.

Duane Rankin covers the Suns for the Arizona Republic. The Show spoke with him and began the conversation by asking him to explain how this Phoenix team is better than the one that almost became champions last season.
