Produce on shelves at the Kingman Area Food Bank

As inflation increases, family’s dollars don’t stretch as far for many needs, especially meals. This is putting a strain on food banks across Arizona.

Mark Pardue, executive director of the Kingman Area Food Bank, said while there are many retirees in the city that use the facility, there’s been a marked increase in younger families.

“In ages between 25 and 35, we’ve seen a 39 percent increase in those families in that age group over last year which is astounding,” he said.

Although the food bank already has taken in over 1.4 million pounds of food this year, Pardue said it’s been a struggle to keep shelves stocked.

Monday and Tuesday: 8 a.m.-12 p.m. (Last number given at 11:45 a.m.)
Thursday: 8-11 a.m. (Seniors only. Last number given at 10:45 a.m.)
Thursday: 4–7 p.m. (Last number given at 6:45 p.m.)
Friday: 8 a.m.-12 p.m. (Last number given at 11:45 a.m.)
