The current mural at the Roosevelt/Central Avenue light rail station is inspired by poet Amanda Gorman and painted by Jerome Fleming (aka Kulorbandit).

Valley Metro is looking for artists to feature their work on a large wall at the Roosevelt/Central Avenue light rail station.

Brittany Hoffman with the transit organization said those selected will receive a stipend.

“We want to make sure our artists are supported in the community, so the honorarium is $2,500 for each the Fall artist and the spring artist for 2023," Hoffman said.

The deadline to submit materials for fall consideration is May 31. Artists must be at least 18 years old and registered with Artlink Incorporated

Representatives from Phoenix, Tempe and Mesa will choose the winning entries.
