Arizona Education Association president: Mass shooting prevention efforts should be multifaceted

As more details come out about the mass shooting in a Texas elementary school, politicians and organizational leaders are debating on how to prevent the next one.

The Arizona Education Association President Joe Thomas says there needs to be gun safety measures put in place, not a ban. He says this is a multifaceted issue. 

“We have to be looking at multiple layers and points of intervention ourselves on how we can reduce incidents like this from happening," Thomas said.

He also says that arming teachers is not the answer and that there needs to be a community response.
