Author Ibram X. Kendi says Juneteenth is a chance to discuss ongoing racial disparity

June 19 is Juneteenth, the holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the U.S. And Ibram X. Kendi says the observance can be an opportunity to talk about the issue and its relevance today.

Kendi is the director of the Boston University Center for Antiracist Research; his newest books are "How to Raise an Antiracist" and "Goodnight Racism." He’ll be reading the latter and talking about antiracism June 20 at Changing Hands Bookstore in Tempe.

Prior to that, The Show spoke with him and asked what he sees as the significance of Juneteenth.
