Abortion-rights activists march around the Arizona Capitol grounds

Abortion-rights activists march around the Arizona Capitol grounds on June 24, 2022, to protest the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling overturning Roe v. Wade.

The Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade last week is having ripple effects across the country today.

Here in Arizona, there is still confusion about what comes next: Will a century-old law banning abortion except to save the life of the mother take hold here? Or will a recently-passed law banning abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy become the law in our state?

As we await what will likely be a decision from the state Supreme Court on that, abortion providers in Arizona are stopping abortion services.

The Show spoke with one such provider, Dr. DeShawn Taylor, shortly after the decision came down last week. Taylor is an OBGYN and owner of Desert Star Family Planning in Phoenix.
