As Prescott remembers the lives of 19 firefighters who died in the 2013 Yarnell Hill Fire, the city’s mayor is emphasizing the dangers first responders face.

Mayor Phil Goode says honoring the Granite Mountain Hotshots is a way to show community support for emergency workers.

“It’s a continuous reminder that all of our first responders are frequently put in high-risk situations," Goode said. "We have to make sure we support them.”

Gov. Doug Ducey ordered flags on all state buildings be lowered to half-staff Thursday, saying in a statement that “their sacrifice will never be forgotten.”
