Mexico’s president hopes to discuss migration, development and security with his American counterpart Joe Biden at a meeting this week.

Asked Monday about the agenda, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador tied the topic of migration to support for economic development in Mexico and Central America more broadly.

López Obrador previously said he would propose the expansion of temporary work visas in the United States after the horrific discovery of dozens of suffocated Mexican and Central Americans migrants in an abandoned trailer in Texas.

During his visit, López Obrador also said he intends to pay homage to President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, whom he described as one of the country’s best presidents.

He specifically praised FDR’s respect for Mexican sovereignty in the wake of Mexico’s nationalization of oil resources.
