Documentary 'Gabby Giffords Won't Back Down' follows congresswoman's recovery after 2011 shooting

Giffords has continued to be a well-known presence in government and public policy through her leadership in trying to reform U.S. gun laws and by way of her husband's position as a Democratic senator from Arizona.
A documentary about Giffords' life and career, "Gabby Giffords Won't Back Down," is being released nationally July 13. It includes intimate footage of Giffords' recovery from the shooting as a speech therapist tries to help her remember and pronounce words she'd first learned as a child.
Julie Cohen and Betsy West made the documentary. They're probably best known for an earlier film, "RBG," about the late U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
The Show spoke with the two filmmakers about the documentary, which includes footage that had been recorded in Giffords’ earliest days of recovery in 2011.
