Chandler residents can pay bills in cryptocurrency, but other 'crypto towns' are taking bigger risks

Cryptocurrency — including bitcoin — is still an evolving realm and one that is generally not understood by many of us. But that hasn’t stopped some cities across the country — including Chandler; Reno, Nevada and Portsmouth, Virginia — from offering its residents the opportunity to use cryptocurrency for paying municipal bills, for example.

A recent piece on Slate, put together by Jake W. Dean and Nitish Pahwa, looks at how “the cryptocurrency revolution has come to local government.”

The Show spoke with Dean and began the conversation by asking why some cities have moved in this direction.
