Flagstaff residents have asked their city to reduce its carbon footprint.

The city recently announced a new program that will help it achieve that goal.

Flagstaff will work with the state’s largest energy utility, Arizona Public Service, to power city operations with carbon-free electricity.

A couple of years ago, APS announced goals to reach carbon neutrality by 2050.

The utility has worked with Flagstaff on solar projects and electric vehicle charging stations.

Last year Flagstaff launched a new program to reduce emissions and increase use of renewables.

It hopes to be carbon free by 2030.

To learn more about the program, The Show spoke with Flagstaff sustainability director Nicole Antonopoulos.
