Advocacy groups in Arizona are seeking a federal ban on the now-defunct Cyber Ninjas, the Florida-based firm hired to audit 2020 election results in Maricopa County. They argue the firm and its CEO should be barred from further government work.

The Brennan Center for Justice sent a letter this week on behalf of the advocacy groups to the Interagency Suspension and Debarment Committee. Brennan Center legal fellow John Martin co-authored the letter. He says recontracting Cyber Ninjas to audit federal elections would undermine democracy.

“What we’ve seen in their work in Arizona is that they’ve engaged in pretty sloppy, pretty inefficient performance when it conducted its audit for the Arizona state Senate," Martin said.

The letter also cited inadequate financial resources, defiance of a court order to produce public records, and CEO Doug Logan’s promotion of election conspiracy theories.
