Monkeypox spread, vaccine shortages indication of struggles of public health system

Monkeypox first emerged in the United Kingdom a couple of months ago and has since spread to the U.S. The number of cases in Arizona recently reached double figures.

Concerns about the illness' transmissibility and limited testing availability have increased focus on it, and there are also worries that so-called COVID fatigue may factor into how seriously monkeypox is taken by the general public.

The Show spoke with infectious disease epidemiologist Dr. Saskia Popescu to learn how concerned the public should be about monkeypox.
