Grand Canyon National Park announced that it has implemented new water conservation measures at the South Rim due to a lack of water resources.

Park officials say the measures apply to hotels, campgrounds and homes. Conservation methods include cutting back on daily water usage and switching to disposable dishes and utensils. The water measures apply only to the South Rim.

The park has been working to fix multiple leaks in the Transcanyon Water Distribution Pipeline since earlier this week. A failed valve at Pipe Creek is also being replaced.

While the North Rim is not affected by these measures, officials are urging water conservation on that side of the Grand Canyon as well.
