Flagstaff Mayor Paul Deasy on Tuesday said on Twitter he declared a state of emergency as flooding continues throughout the city and Coconino County.

Meanwhile, the county board of supervisors approved moving $5 million from the county's general fund reserves to flood control.

Officials estimate flooding from the Pipeline Fire, which caused the flooding the city is currently experiencing will have cost the county about $6 million. Flooding from the Schultz Fire in 2010 cost Coconino County $5.2 million.

Several homes have been damaged and residents are still racing to gather sandbags to defend their homes. County officials are still calling for the construction of an additional 400,000 sandbags. An equal number have already been put out.
