The U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics released the latest inflation numbers, and they’re not looking good.

The Consumer Price Index shows the Phoenix metro-area leads the nation with a 13% change between August 2021 and 2022.

Over the past year, food prices are up more than 14% and energy is up more than 19%.

The area’s CPI rose nearly 1% from July to August because of higher prices for food, shelter and medical care.

To learn why numbers keep rising, The Show spoke with Phoenix economist Jim Rounds.
