More than 160 advocacy groups are calling on the Biden administration to act to meet climate and pollution standards. The effort called “Solutions for Pollution” consists of several local organizations pushing for public support.

The coalition is coordinated by the Climate Action Campaign and aims to drive support for 20 health, climate and pollution standards. Those standards would have to be enacted by the Biden administration in order to meet the president’s commitment to cut emissions in half by 2030.

Targets were set in tandem with net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The goal is to limit global warming to 1 and a half degrees Celsius.

Sandy Bahr is director of the Sierra Club’s Grand Canyon Chapter.

“There are many administrative actions that will help to reduce emissions that contribute to climate change.  But also those emissions that are causing serious public health issues.” Bahr said.

Dr. Eve Shapiro in Tucson is with Physicians for Social Responsibility.

"There really is no time to wait, and we can’t wait for congress to pass some additional laws, we really need executive action to enforce the current laws." Shapiro said.
