Last year, the Phoenix Suns posted the best record in basketball and nearly advanced to the NBA finals, but the team is ready to put last year behind it, for a number of reasons.

In November, ESPN published allegations that Suns owner Robert Sarver made racist and sexist comments in the workplace.

The NBA launched an investigation, which led to his suspension, and last week, Sarver said he would sell the team.

A number of players said they never saw that side of their boss but found the allegations disturbing. General Manager James Jones said he supports Sarver’s decision to sell the team.

“I think that’s the best outcome for everyone involved — the players, the fans, the staffers, everyone that was impacted on so many levels," Jones said. "It brings some closure to a long period of discomfort and uneasiness.”

Jones made the comments during the Suns media day Monday, which kicked off the upcoming season.
