Music fans enjoy Live! @ Murphy Park. The free events occur in downtown Glendale Thursday-Sunday during May.

Glendale wants to sell eight downtown parcels located along 58th Avenue and Lamar Road, south of Glendale Avenue for development. Parcels can be viewed on the Glendale city website.

The request for proposals are part of a vision to “increase consistent density of visitors, patrons and residents along with increased daytime and nighttime economic activity.”

Proposals are due by Nov. 1. Higher rank will be given to commercial proposals with a mix of uses like food and beverage, entertainment and specialty retail. The parcels are within the central business district and designated entertainment district, which allows the city to approve liquor licenses.

Downtown Glendale is anchored by Murphy Park, small, local businesses and a historic residential district. In June, the City Council approved a $72 million downtown campus project, which includes renovating city hall and remodeling an amphitheater at Murphy Park to offer live events year round.
