It’s October, and we are in the thick of election season.

Corners are clogged with election signs, and the TV is packed with ads. But there’s one election season tradition that’s no longer a thing: candidate endorsements from the state’s largest newspaper.

In 2020, the Arizona Republic made the decision to stop endorsing candidates. So what does that mean for the paper’s opinion section?

To discuss that and more, The Show spoke with Elvia Díaz, editorial page editor for the Arizona Republic, who will be joining The Show Mondays to discuss what appears on the paper's opinion pages.

Díaz is new to this gig, but she has a long and storied career as a journalist. The conversation began with a little about her.
