U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized 484 pounds of bologna and 285 pounds of cheese at the Paso Del Norte border crossing in El Paso, Texas, on Oct. 27.

Late last month, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in El Paso seized nearly 500 pounds of bologna from a truck trying to enter the country.

And this wasn’t the first time border crossers had been caught trying to smuggle in the pork product.

Nicole Miller is a supervisory agriculture specialist with U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

The Show spoke with her to learn how big of an issue it is that people are trying to smuggle food across the border.
