Sonoran security chief: Progress being made on adding to state police force
Sonora’s top security official says progress is being made to grow the ranks of the state’s police force.
Sonora’s governor has promised to increase the number of state police officers. And State Security Secretary Maria Dolores del Rio says progress is being made toward that goal.
She said that by the end of the year, there will be 500 more state police officers than when Gov. Alfonso Durazo took office last year. And next year, an additional 500 will be hired. She also recently told local media the governor is committed to making Sonoran police officers the best paid in the country, which could be achieved as early as next year.
