Lee Griffo's sister's murder was featured on a crime show. Years later, it's still painful

Earlier this year, Netflix released "Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story."
The thriller tells the serial killer’s story, but mainly from the points of view of his victims. But while the show was a hit, family members of some of the victims in the show have spoken out against it, saying it made them feel "retraumatized."
Lee Griffo had a similar experience with a different show. Her sister, Jessie McCaskill, was murdered in Arizona in 2012. Around that same time, Investigation Discovery was putting together a series called "Deadly Affairs," a drama with "true stories of romances gone terribly wrong."
The story of Jessie’s murder ended up in a 2014 episode titled "Family Ties." Afterward, Griffo wrote a piece titled, "Reality TV Thinks My Sister’s Murder is Sexy" for xojane.
The Show spoke with her to learn how hard it was for her to grapple with her sister’s murder and its reenactment.
The Show also reached out to Investigation Discovery about what Griffo had to say and did not receive a response.
