Some of Arizona’s top Democrats are reacting to Sen. Kyrsten Sinema’s announcement that she has left the party.

Democratic Party Chair Raquel Teran aid the senator has helped the party deliver results, like with the bipartisan infrastructure package. But she said Sinema’s record on voting rights and corporate taxation has fallen short.

"She has shown she answers to corporations and billionaires, not Arizonans. Senator Sinema’s party registration means nothing if she continues to not listen to her constituents," said Teran.

In a statement, Congressman Ruben Gallego said Sinema’s exit shows she’s putting her own interests ahead of the people she represents.

Sinema has not said whether she’ll run for reelection in 2024.
